Wooden spoon in my bathroom?

So there is a wooden spoon that needs to be in our bathroom, always... from now on.

So if you come over to our house, and come into our downstairs bathroom, the above picture is what you will see.

You see, when we built this house, I noticed that the light switches are super super high. I asked before it became too late if they could move them all down a bit. The Construction Manager told me that this was the normal height that it should be at. So his answer was, No.

This has been hard for me because as I am trying to encourage Kaitlyn to go Potty ALL by herself, it is tough when I have to get up and turn the light on for her. So if I am upstairs of feeding Whitney, I have to get up and help her. Doesn't sound like much, but it is hard when I have to stop what I am doing to help her.
Trying to convince her to go in the dark, is not an option for her. I feel like because she can't do it all by herself, she gets frustrated.

So this last weekend, my super amazing, smart husband, got tired of her asking to have us turn on the light, and gave her a wooden spoon to help her turn it on.

At first I thought, There is no way that will work for her. It will probably just end up being one more thing that makes her frustrated with the potty. But instead, it has helped her to feel more independent and has been great for us to not have to get up every time she needs to go.

So this is what we are going to have in our bathroom for awhile, at least till she can grow some more.

But as you can see, it is pretty high and might be awhile.

They are rocker switches too, so she has to be able to touch the top part of the light switch.

It is almost to high for me ;)

It actually comes to my chin. Crazy huh!!!??

Great food... Great friends

Today, I made Almas favorite meal.

His moms Pizza, I love it too and Kaitlyn eats it up.

It is so yummy and I would say we have it at least twice a month.

It is so super easy, and I believe it is the best pizza dough out there. I love it so much! I never want to go out and get pizza ever, bc to me this is so yummy and easy and better for your wallet!

Today, I also attempted to make homemade oatmeal cream pies. They didn't quite turn out like I would have liked but they were still yummy. The ones that tasted the best and looked more like the real thing, were gone fast so I didn't get a picture of that, but here is one that I made.
I started googling recipes for random things, and I was shocked that there is a recipe to make ANYTHING! I mean you like it, you can make it. Candy Bars, fun drinks, any type of dinner! I love being able to have all those recipes at my fingertips and able to try new things.

This last Saturday, my friend, Deanna, was having a baby shower. I am so excited for her and I know she is going to make one great mom. It was so fun to catch up and we couldn't even think when the last time we actually saw each other was.

Here are a bunch of us from High School. Now we are all Moms. I felt a little left out not having my kids, but I was super grateful for Alma for watching the girls so I could have a little getaway.



We needed to buy Kate new sunday shoes so we did last night. She really wanted new sandles and they were only $2 so we went ahead and bought them. She loved them so much she wanted them next to her bed. When we went to check on her they were on her feet. The wrong feet, but they were on. Silly girl!

My mom and I took the girls swimming and they had so much fun! Whitney got in too and did great! It was a fun getaway!

My friend Anna came over last week with the two girls she takes care of and her little boy and we made lunch. I thought it would be fun to make Almas homemade pizza. Each girl got to roll out their own dough and make their own pizza and put the toppings on. It was so fun. When Alma got home and I told him about it, he was pretty sad that I didn't make any for him, so that is why we had it for dinner today.

It was so much fun and Kaitlyn loved having those girls over to play with.

Alma turned 27

My sweet husband turned the big 2-7 a week ago. I am so grateful for him and all he does for our family!

And here he is with his girls on his b-day! We sure do love him!

Here is a recent picture of Whitney. She has been using her hands to play with the toys by her and she is really growing and more aware of everything around her. She is learning how to roll and she started laughing too which is AWESOME! I love to hear her laugh and see her smile.

She for the last 3 nights has slept for 10-11 hours straight! Can't believe it! Kaitlyn never did that on her own without me making her at 8 months finally. It is so wonderful!

Kaitlyn loves her sister so much. She is seriously the WORLDS BEST BIG SISTER! She has never been jealous or mean to her and she is always so sweet and trying to get her to smile. I love that I don't have to worry about her hurting Whitney. She is so soft to her. I feel so blessed to have sweet girls!

Whitney was so content just chillin' with Dad, and so I decided to take a picture of her...

This was the reaction I got as soon as I took it... I think the flash might have scared her. Poor thing!

Alma and I took a couple of casual pictures of us with our beautiful sweet girls.
I took Whitney to the Dr. and she is 98% for height and for weight. I looked at how old Kaitlyn was when she was Whitneys height and weight and she was that at 5 month-7 months! Crazy! My Whitney is growing too fast!

I LOVE Weekends!

2 weekends ago we bought a little pool for Kaitlyn for our backyard. It is so nice to be able to go out there and cool off!

We played one of my favorite games as a kid "SPLAT"





They are really building all around us now and so we get to see lots of cool stuff during the day on how they build homes!

This last weekend, I wanted to have a lot of fun since we had Dad home for Sat Sun and Mon! So we had a WII Night where we played bowling and tennis and then we made Virgin Straw. Daq and played with glowsticks. This is us playing with glowsticks in the bathroom:

It was a fun weekend and it was sad to see it end, but that just meant that there is another weekend coming up! Hope you all had a great 3 day weekend as well!

My Whitney

I love this little girl!

I know that whenever anyone has a new baby their love for them is so strong, and that is not anything new. You know that a new mom is going to ramble about how wonderful their new baby is. So that is just what I am going to do.

I am blessed to have these two special girls and to love them so much.

Whitney is doing so great!!!
She is a pleasure to be around all the time. She hardly ever cries and when she does it is the simpliest wimper, like she is saying,
"I don't mean to bother, but would you mind ___."

I am amazed at how different my girls are from eachother.
She is so different from Kaitlyn in so many ways.
The obvious is she is bigger and has more hair than Kaitlyn did.
She does tummy time so well and Kaitlyn hated it.
She doesn't really like her binki, just every now and again. Sometimes she just won't take it at all. Kaitlyn would take it any time of day, all day long, till the end of time if you would let her.
She sleeps for longer periods (which could very well just be me acting a little... no... a lot more calm and sure of what I am doing as a mom) But she has been sleeping for more than 5 hours every night and some nights 7 hours straight. Which didn't happen with Kate till about 7 months.
I saw a little something that looked like teeth on the bottom of her lower mouth and I felt around and it does feel like two little teeth on the bottom are starting to come through. Who knows how long till they really pop out but Kate was almost 1 before she got teeth. Whitney is not even 2 months!! Well, in 2 days she will be.

I love that they are so different! When I found out we were having another girl, which I was super excited about, it was hard to imagine having a girl that was not Kate. I just figured it would all be pretty close to the same, same look about them, same personality. It is hard to picture a whole new person... silly I know. But it has been different and so much fun and it is great to know that they really are their own person!

I love this little Whitney so much and I am so glad we have been blessed with her. She has the best smile and is already starting to laugh! What a wonderful thing for a mom to hear!
She really is a sweet heart and I am looking forward to the girl that she will grow into!

***I am going to save another post for another day on how much I absolutely ADORE my Kate-D-Bug! ***

But for today, I wanted to give a little shout out for my love for my Whitters! She is so amazing and I am always amazed at the love that a mom can have for their child!
I look forward to and love to see her face, her smile, even her cute pouts and cries. She knows me and loves me and that is one of the best things to experience in this life.

Summer fun

We got our Pool Pass for our neighborhood pool a little over a week ago and we are super excited. It was only $4 for our family for the whole summer season!

About a mile from our house they were doing a crawfish festival and we went and saw baby aligators and crocodiles. It was pretty fun to watch! Kaitlyn keeps talking about a BIG SNAKE that we saw there. It took 4 Adults to hold up the snake!


Kaitlyn played in my flour and I had to take a picture! I only had a little bit left in my bucket so I let her have at it so I could pour all my new flour in. Super cute though!










Alma is a great Dad. I came upstairs and he had put all these bows that I had make in Kaitlyns hair. It was pretty cute and she loved it.
